Key Stage 2 results for 2018

Attainment at the end of Key Stage 2, 2018 (Year 6 11 year old pupils)

Our Excellent 2017 / 18 KS2 Results are as follows:

83% of our pupils achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths, combined (compared with 64% nationally.)

  • Reading: 85% met expected standards (national: 75%)
  • Writing: 94% met expected standards (national: 78%)
  • Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling: 97% met expected standards (national: 78%)
  • Maths: 89% met expected standards (national: 76%)
  • As you can see our scores at CMPS are well above national, which is extremely pleasing.

Attainment: higher level

We continue to offer challenge to all children, including higher attaining pupils. Scaled scores of over 110 are considered ‘high scores’.

25% of our pupils achieved a high level of attainment in Reading, Writing and Maths.

  • Reading: 35% high scores
  • Writing: 43% high scores
  • Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling: 57% high scores
  • Mathematics: 49% high scores
  • We do not yet know the national averages for higher levels of achievement.

We are very proud that the scores in reading, writing, mathematics and SPAG for our higher attaining children are above those nationally.

Scaled Scores

Scaled scores, where 100 is the expected national standard, also show that our pupils faired well (there are no scaled scores available for Writing).

  • 107 average scaled score in Reading (National 105)
  • 109 average scaled score in Maths (National 104)
  • 111 average scaled score in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (National 106)

Clearly our scaled scores in all areas are significantly above national, which is very pleasing

Progress Scores for All Children

These scores illustrate the additional progress the children make between KS1 and 2. This is not always a totally reliable measure of the impact a school has made on learning as 14 of our Year 6 children arrived at CMPS from other schools / countries across KS2.

  • Reading - Plus 2
  • Writing - Plus 4.2
  • Mathematics - Plus 5.0

Progress Scores for Disadvantaged Children

  • Reading - Plus 1.6 (LA average – minus 0.4))
  • Writing - Plus 4.4 (LA average – minus 4.4)
  • Mathematics - Plus 3.6 (LA average – minus 0.4)

Our results are clearly significantly above national outcomes in terms of progress

CMPS is currently:

in the top 7% of schools across the country for progress in average scaled scores in Reading and Mathematics

in the top 14% of schools across the country for progress in average scaled scores in Reading, Writing and Mathematics

in the top 10% of schools across the country for progress in the expected standard + in Reading, Writing and Mathematics

in the top 11% of schools across the country for progress in the expected standard + in Reading and Mathematics

We are a fully inclusive school welcoming children with significant special needs from a wide number of ethnic groups and with many and varied languages. We are extremely proud of the achievement of all our children and believe that they are well prepared for the next phase of their education.
